Poolside Cool – Keeping It Casual on Holiday

When I'm away relaxing by the pool my outfit is strongly led by simple pieces that I can throw on and take off whenever I need to - especially in 40 degree heat which I recently experienced in Marrakech whilst staying at the Royal Palm Hotel (read the full blog post on the resort here). I shot these photos at about 9am before the sun fully came out and it was slightly cooler, the pool area was completely empty which made for the perfect backdrop. I have never been one to wear loads of make up whilst I'm on holiday or to put much effort into my hair - I love that my skin has the chance to breathe and be make up free for a few days and the fact that I don't have to use any heat appliances on my hair is heaven as I can experiment with hair oils and products that can help restore my hair and make it as healthy as possible.

Denim shorts are in my suitcase every time I go away and I always throw in a variety of t-shirts that I know I can wear so easily. The ones I'm wearing here are from Levi's and are actually a pair of my mum's old jeans that I cut into shorts. I like that they are slightly oversized, even when I buy denim shorts I like to buy one size bigger than I need so that they sit on my hips and a slightly loose for extra comfort and to give a really laid back look. I also love the slightly oversized cut of the Wildfox t shirt and the words on the back represent my mood whilst I was away perfectly! I've had this t shirt for years and the material is still so soft, I also love to cut the sleeves off my t shirts and find them perfect to throw on whilst I'm on holiday too. This JoyIsLondon hat is a new to my summer wardrobe and the pom pom detail is my absolute favourite! The story behind the brand is amazing and I love that I can dress it up or down.
