If you read this post, then you will know that I recently flew to Portugal to stay at the Conrad Algarve for a few nights. Whilst I was there I was giving a timetable of activities that were going to be experienced as part of celebrating the 1/3/5 initiative… What is 1/3/5? Carry on reading to learn how your trips abroad can be enhanced in the most exciting ways!
In November 2015, Conrad Hotels & Resorts announced the launch of Stay Inspired, a global brand-wide initiative that marks a cultural shift in hospitality. At each one of its properties globally, Conrad will offer guests who seek out inspired experiences a more customised and curated collection of 1, 3, and 5 hour experiences available through Conrad Concierge mobile app and at StayInspired.com. Out of the 24 Conrad Hotels & Resorts worldwide, 16 locations currently have the 1/3/5 scheme up and running with the aim of having all 24 hotels offering by the end of July 2016.
Whilst staying at the Conrad Algarve, I experienced clam picking, swimming with Portuguese waterdogs and a Cork Route Experience which are all included in the list of activities available on the 1/3/5 scheme for that particular destination. All of the activities I took part in are culturally connected to the Algarve in one way or another (fun fact: 50% of the World’s cork production comes from the Algarve. Think about that next time you pop open a bottle of bubbly!)
The idea behind 1/3/5 is that no matter how long you have there is something to fill your time that you wouldn’t necessarily find if you searched Google or bought a travel guide book. The man responsible for driving the Stay Inspired programme and researching the 1/3/5 activities is Peter Jon Lindberg who’s actual job title is ‘Director of Inspiration’ (literally the coolest job title in the world!) With his extensive travel experience and previous jobs working as Executive Editor at Condé Nast Traveller he is more than qualified to root out these fascinating experiences and piece them together for the Stay Inspired programme.
Watch the video below to see exactly what we got up to on the trip and what the 1/3/5 experience is all about.
